When I signed up for adventures in technology I didn't know what to expect. I was on vacation when it was introduced to the staff, so I only knew what I heard around my department. I was pleasantly surprised that I truly enjoyed some of the segments. My favorites had to be Blogging, Wikis and Wikepedia, and of course LibraryThing. I hope to use these in the near future, and keep my hand in the new terms of technology. At this point I would like to be added to semester 2.
As for my incentive gift my choice would be an "itunes" gift certificate.
Thank you!

LibraryThing
This week was my favorite! I like that I now can add titles to my own library, and keep track of what I truly enjoyed. I can rate, make comments, and refer back to. It's no surprise that most of my titles were cookbooks, and a few for entertaining. I hope to visit and critique this list in the near future. As for the unsuggested titles a few were Confessions of a shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella and Night pleasures by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

Kids stuff
After being off for vacation, I'm at week 9 (social networking) and still plugging along. I think I would have enjoyed this segment if I were in my teens. I looked up my kids and saw all those cute fresh faces on the every ones profile page. I can't believe that I would really use this as a way of communicating with others. Maybe if I had a lot of free time, and was looking for some new friends this could be my last resort.

Week 8
This week was a little tougher for me. I think having two weeks off had something to do with it. In the end I was able to get through it. I think having more experience with photo sharing could be a lot of fun.

Wikis & Wikipedia
Today I had a chance to explore wikis and wikipedia. I loved it! The thought of going into a wiki and editing it with current information was like no other. Yes this was just a thought. If you're passionate about a topic and find others that are just as you are, you can share so much right on the spot. I did search several townships like the Village of Mt. Pleasant, the town of Caledonia, but didn't find a link to our library. I think that should be a must. If someone is searching for a little bit of history of their community with a link to the public library they could possible find more.
I did search Racine Wisconsin, and yes that had a link to the public library. This was a nice experience!

Sharing
Week 5 consisted of using Google Docs and getting familiar with the calendar. This was a little clunky for me, but hope to play around with both a little more when I have time.

Newsfeeds
This week I was introduced to RSS (really simple syndication), and how a newsreader lets me subscribe to RSS feeds, or newsfeeds. These newsfeeds are up to date bits of information that I have access to in a central location and at my finger tips. I don't have to search individual websites.
I found this quite fun because I can pick and choose the topics that interest me at work and for my personal interests. I can keep the most reliable newsfeeds, and delete the less desirable ones from my list.
